It's Time to Grind

Time2Grind Basketball is a Sioux City-area basketball program for boys in 3rd grade and up who want to learn, compete, improve their game, and have fun doing it.

Led by Coach Avery Thedford, Time2Grind is about more than putting together teams and playing games. It's about developing young athletes - assessing where they are today, helping them build their skills, and giving them the confidence to take the next step.

Because getting better doesn't happen overnight.

It takes work. It takes repetition. It takes GRIND.

More Than Games

Time2Grind is built around player development.

Every athlete comes to the court with different abilities, experience, strengths, and areas where they can improve. Our job is to meet players where they are and help them move forward.

Skill Development

Build strong fundamentals and improve individual basketball skills through focused, purposeful practice.

Confidence

Help players trust their abilities, learn from mistakes, and become more comfortable competing.

Basketball IQ

Learn how to play the game - not just run plays. Players develop decision-making, communication, court awareness, and an understanding of team basketball.

Work Ethic

Talent matters. Effort matters more. We want players to learn that improvement comes from showing up, putting in the work, and being willing to keep going when something isn't easy.

Competition

Players need opportunities to test what they've learned. Competition challenges athletes to grow, adapt, and become better teammates and basketball players.

Have Fun

We take development seriously. That doesn't mean basketball shouldn't be fun. We want players to work hard, compete hard, build friendships, and leave the gym wanting to come back.

Meet Coach Avery Thedford

For Coach Avery Thedford, basketball development isn't just about building better players. It's about investing in young people in the community he calls home.

A Sioux City native and West High School graduate, Avery competed in both football and basketball during his time at West.

Since then, he has continued working with young people on the court and in the classroom. Avery has worked for the Sioux City Community School District as both a coach and substitute teacher and has served as an Assistant Coach with Western Iowa Tech Men's Basketball.

He has also spent years coaching and developing youth basketball players through the Swarm basketball program, gaining experience working with athletes at different ages and stages of development.

With Swarm's recent transition to an all-girls basketball program, Avery saw an opportunity to continue providing boys in the Sioux City area with a place to develop their game.

Time2Grind is that next step.

A place to learn.

A place to compete.

A place to build confidence.

And a place where putting in the work matters.

We aren't looking for finished players.

We're looking for kids who want to get better.

Your son doesn't have to be the best player in the gym to belong at Time2Grind.

He needs to be willing to learn, listen, work, compete, and improve.

Whether he's still learning the fundamentals or looking for an opportunity to take his game to another level, Time2Grind is designed to challenge players while helping them grow in confidence and ability.

Where you start isn't as important as how willing you are to work.
